OUR HISTORY
A LEGENDARY HERITAGE
Born over 3 centuries ago, the Trois Rivières Plantation is an integral part of Martinique’s historical heritage. Its emblematic name comes from the three rivers that border the acres of sugarcane fields: Oman, Bois d’Inde and Saint Pierre.
During the 18th and 19th Centuries the plantation specializes in the production of sugar; at the beginning of the 20th Century it starts manufacturing Agricole rum that will in time become its exclusive production.

OUR HISTORY,
A LEGENDARY HERITAGE.

A LEGEND
IS BORN
Nicolas Fouquet, Superintendant of King Louis XIV, grants himself the largest plots ever allotted in the French Antilles: 2000 ha (approximately 4900 acres) located in the South of the Island. He fell into disfavor before he was able to realize his lifelong ambition of founding a viceroyalty.
THE SUGAR PRODUCTION
IS IN FULL SWING
The domain changes several times of owner. At the time sugar production is roaring there are up to three refineries on the property with some vestiges which still remain nowadays.

THE FIRST LIGHTS OF
TROIS RIVIÈRES RUM
Etienne Isaïe Marraud Des Grottes, a rich landowner from the North of the island, acquires the lands owned of Trois Rivières; he adds rum manufacturing to the existing sugar production.
END OF
SUGAR PRODUCTION
Amédée Aubéry, a powerful industrialist and landowner buys Trois Rivières. He modernizes the site, stops the sugar production and manufactures only rum.

THE BEGINNING OF
AGRICOLE RUM ON THE
TROIS RIVIÈRES DOMAIN
Aubéry’s son expands the plantation; he transfers the Dizac distillery located at Diamant on the lands of Trois Rivières and manufactures solely Agricole rum elaborated with pure sugarcane juice.
TROIS RIVIÈRES
& DUQUESNE
The Marraud des Grottes family, who already owns a distillery and the Duquesne brand, buys the domain and commercializes Trois Rivières aged rums under the Duquesne brand until 1972.

FIRST
EXPORTATIONS
Sales outside Martinique started; the distillery expands and acquires a second distillation column. Trois Rivières rums will be exported first to mainland France, then to the rest of Europe.
BELLONNIE & BOURDILLON
ACQUIRES THE DISTILLERY AND A.O.C LABEL CERTIFICATION
The Trois Rivières distillery is bought by the company B.B.S., already owner of La Mauny rums. Two years later, Trois Rivières obtains the AOC label (protected designation of Martinique origin). To this day, it is the only rum in the world with a Protected Designation of Origin (AOC).
FROM SAINTE-LUCE
TO RIVIÈRE PILOTE
In 2004 the production of Trois Rivières rum moves from Sainte-Luce to Rivière Pilote and the precious distillation column is reassembled on the new site, thus guarantying the quality and uniqueness of the rum with the turquoise-blue label.
To this day, the plantation and its precious sugarcane fields are still located in Sainte-Luce on the original lands that board the Caribbean Sea; towered by the famous windmill.

BRAND NEW
TROIS RIVIÈRES
Trois Rivières entirely renews itself and largely expands its range: launching of white Agricole rums at 40% A.B.V. ideal for high-range cocktails, a redesigned range of aged rums, Single Casks and exceptional Great Millésimes, all patiently elaborated by the Cellar Master. The brand innovates with the launch of its Cuvée de l’Océan, one of the first mono-zonal rums with a seawater signature, its Triple Millésime, first multi-vintage rum from Martinique and with its Cask Strength Rum, bottled without dilution, aged in new American oak casks.
THE RHUMBELLION CONTEST,
A HIGH-LEVEL COMPETITION
MEANT FOR THE BARTENDERS
Trois Rivières launches Rhumbellion, a challenge intended for professional bartenders around the world. They are invited to revolutionize the use of French Agricole rum behind bars.
Over 200 bartenders participate to the first edition. Nicola Battafarano, actually head bartender at the Lutetia in Paris, wins the grand final in Martinique.
The second edition takes place the following year with a similar success: avec 220 participants, 16 countries are represented, and the grand winner is Jason Rosen from New Zealand.

THE BAR EDITIONS
Combining innovation and tradition.
Expressing the company’s innovative spirit, the Trois Rivières Bar Editions range, both the bottle and the rums within, is aimed at the greatest international cocktail bars.
